Photography Is Not A Crime.

Tuesday, October 26th, 2010

As of October 18, 2010, thanks to a successful NYCLU lawsuit on behalf of Antonio Musumeci, the federal government (finally) acknowledges that there are no federal laws or regulations prohibiting photography outside federal courthouses. Details here:
And BTW, it’s also OK to shoot on the subway: NYCT Rules of Conduct on the Official MTA Site – section 1050.9(c). state that “Photography, filming or video recording in any facility or conveyance is permitted except that ancillary equipment such as lights, reflectors or tripods may not be used. Members of the press holding valid identification issued by the New York City Police Department are hereby authorized to use necessary ancillary equipment. All photographic activity must be conducted in accordance with the provision of these Rules.

iPhone Camera Backplate

Friday, October 22nd, 2010

iPhone-camera-crazed fanboy that I’ve become, here’s my own custom rangefinder-style iPhone4 camera backplate. The printed image, placed inside any clear-backed iPhone case (ie: Griffiin Reveal, Luxmo Crystal Case, etc.) makes the camera side of the phone look like a… camera.  ;  )

By popular request, here’s the print-res file for free download: www.jeanmiele.com/download/MieleiPhone4RFcam.jpg.zip

The image is a composite, of course, much like my landscapes and other fine-art pics. Thanks to several sources of inspiration: @petapixel, who posted about Yellow15 at nikonjin.com, who was inspired by BeyondTheTech.

Fun.
