FotoFusion is: January 24-28, 2017, at the Palm Beach Photographic Centre, West Palm Beach, FL
FotoFusion is a terrific gathering of the photographic “tribe.” I’ll be providing portfolio reviews, teaching mini-workshops, and attending classes by some of my favorite photographers. This is going to be fun!
Here’s my schedule:
Wednesday, January 25, 2017
Jean Miele will be providing Portfolio Reviews (#801)
11am-1pm. Location: Library 3rd Floor
Bring your portfolio for top photographers, picture editors and other pros in the business to evaluate your work. Portfolio reviews are available Wednesday through Saturday, from 11:30am to 2:30pm. Register 1 day in advance for each portfolio review. If there is availability, you may sign up the same day. Times may vary, so consult the individual daily schedule for exact times. You may request a portfolio review with a specific artist. To schedule a review with a specific artist, go to the portfolio review area to see the schedule. Please do this before the artist’s schedule fills up. Individual artists are scheduled for certain day(s) and time(s) and are only available when they are scheduled. FotoFusion Portfolio Review Info.

From Almost to “Wow” – Lightroom & Photoshop (#307 )
2:30-4pm, Location: Digital Lab 2
Take your pictures from “Almost” to “Wow!” We all use the same tools but some photographers produce consistently exceptional work – by understanding how to transform what’s in front of the camera into a stunning photograph. In this 90-minute hands-on computer lab Miele will share his Photoshop & Lightroom secrets for creating stronger, more striking images, and help you take your work to the next level. How to Write and Talk About Your Work (#138)
10:30am-12:00pm, Location: Flagler Room
Do you get stuck when people ask you what your photographs are about? In this workshop you’ll go beyond talking about the technical details of your photographs, and learn to describe your work in a direct and meaningful way. Verbal and written in-class exercises will have you engaging people as dynamically with your words as with your pictures.

Photoshop: Understanding Layers And Masks (computer lab #313)
8:30am-10am, Location: Digital Lab 1
Adobe Photoshop offers an impressive set of tools for photographers. The most useful are layers, adjustment layers, and layer masks. These are the keys to nondestructive Photoshop “digital darkroom” work: creating composite images and collages; advanced contrast control; expert sharpening; advanced “burning and dodging,” and perfect retouching. Miele will teach you how to use these tools to control every aspect of your images, and learn how relying on layers gives you the power to change your mind at any point (even after an image has been closed and reopened) – with no loss in image quality.
