Jean Miele’s Vestiges of Industry series celebrates the worn and ravaged beauty of pre-computer age machines and technology. This particular selection, subtitled Maritime Studies, features images of several touchstones of New York’s vanishing seafaring heritage: USCGC Lilac, Fireboat J.J. Harvey, Brooklyn Navy Yard, Lightship Frying Pan, Todd Shipyard, & Tugboat Pegasus. It’s hard to imagine a more appropriate venue to display these images than aboard the retired Coast Guard cutter Lilac, docked at Hudson River Park’s Pier 25 in New York City.

It is also a celebration of our country’s Sea Services during Fleet Week New York.
The ship will also be open for tours and exhibit-viewing on Saturday, May 25th and Sunday, May 26th, from 2-6pm. In honor of Lilac’s birthday, birthday cake will be served to all visitors during these afternoons!

LILAC is berthed at Hudson River Park’s Pier 25 at West Street and N. Moore Street.
Lilac’s regular public hours are 2-6pm, Saturday & Sunday only, but are subject to change, so please check Lilac’s Hours & Events page before you come.
Subway stations are close by at Franklin Street on the 1, or Canal Street on the A/C/E (exit at south end on Walker Street). N. Moore Street is one block north of Franklin Street or a block south of Walker Street. Walk west on N. Moore to the pier.
Parking: There is no parking at Pier 25. Parking on the street is possible on weekends, but it’s Manhattan, which is always challenging. There are commercial parking garages nearby, but prices are high. The nearest garage is on Greenwich Street, just south of N. Moore. The least expensive garage is at Pier 40, at West Street and Houston Street, about a 10-minute walk away.
