Perfecting Your Craft:
Lightroom and Printmaking
Shoot, develop, print! This workshop is grownup play-time for photographers!
December 5 – 9, 2022 at the Santa Fe Photographic Workshops
New Mexico is absolutely magical, photographically and otherwise. Come join Jean “Gino” Miele, who recently relocated from Brooklyn to Santa Fe, for a week of new friends, new images, and to take the next step in perfecting your Lightroom skills to craft a digital print that looks like what you see on your monitor.
Wedged in between the holidays, early December is a perfect time to visit Santa Fe. The city is quiet, and the surrounding landscape remains breathtakingly beautiful. There is ample time to make new photographs in the lovely first light of day before class. A couple of afternoons class finishes in time to photograph the golden light around sunset.
This hands-on workshop provides a step-by-step workflow for color and black-and-white inkjet printing with Epson printers. The techniques Gino teaches provide you with access to consistent, predictable, and repeatable printing results. Equally important, you learn to transform your RAW files into photographs that “sing.” Discover the best practices for developing and optimizing your RAW files for print (including Lightroom’s powerful local-adjustment tools), and printing from Lightroom.
Our week together integrates making new images, improving your Lightroom skills, and then printing newly optimized files in The Workshops state-of-the-art Digital Lab. Gino offers an encouraging environment, knowledgeable instruction, and the individual attention you need to take your work to the next level. Join Gino and learn everything you need to know to take the guesswork out of making museum-quality inkjet prints.
Join us for this special workshop and learn something new – about photography, and about yourself.
New Mexico isn’t known as the “land of enchantment” for nothing.
Below are just a few photographs New Mexico has kindly gifted to me over the years, and some pictures from a previous workshop:
Prerequisite: Participants should be comfortable with Macintosh computers and Lightroom.
What to bring: Please arrive for class with all of your working tools ready to go – cameras, works-in-progress, lots of your own RAW files to work on, as well as hard drives/jump drives with adequate storage space to bring your work home. Please also bring questions, ideas, intentions, a desire to explore what’s next for you, and work to share with the class. We will work exclusively in Adobe Lightroom. Computer workstations and printers are provided in the digital lab.
