The New Mexico Landscape and Lightroom
This workshop is grownup summer play-time in the desert for photographers!
July 17 – 21, 2023 at the Santa Fe Photographic Workshops
Santa Fe is our muse and Northern New Mexico is our playground in this new in-person workshop. This landscape photography workshop is about seeing beyond the surface of things and connecting the world we can see with the invisible world in our hearts. It’s about making the leap from taking pictures of what’s “out there” to creating images that come from “in here,” and expresses the way we feel about our lives and about the hidden spirit—the genius loci—of the landscape.
Together, we explore the backroads, high points, and hidden gems that inspired so many artists to make this magical part of the world their home. Santa Fe summer skies are dramatic, the high-desert light is all-enveloping, and the history of ancient cultures takes center stage even today.
This week with Santa Fe resident Jean “Gino” Miele is grownup playtime for photographers. Think of it as a week of summer photo camp in Santa Fe! A time to make new friends, new pictures, and work on whatever the next step is for each of us, technically and aesthetically. Daily classroom time includes reviews of assignment images, lively group discussions, and Lightroom post-processing techniques specific to landscape photography. Together we focus on understanding the magic necessary to transform what’s in front of the camera into a stunning photograph, and learn how to create stronger, more striking landscape images.
To further enrich our experience, we combine our photographic trips into the high desert with field trips to visit local photographic luminaries. Gino introduces you to some of his favorite local artists who share their studios, sage advice, and creative insights. Gino also brings you to his favorite locations, helps you figure out what’s missing from your pictures, and teaches you the photographing and Lightroom techniques you need to take your work to the next level.
Join us for this special workshop and develop the skills and the insights to make photographs that reflect your inner vision as clearly as the landscape. Join us and learn something new—about photography, and about yourself.
New Mexico isn’t known as the “Land of Enchantment” for nothing.
